Drop for non-payment policy

Beginning fall 2012 semester, UAF will return to a form of the previous policy of
dropping student for non-payment of tuition and fees. This is in an effort to better
serve our students and encourage on-time payment each semester. Faculty are still
encouraged to drop students for non-attendance for those who demonstrate a lack of
serious interest in the class.
Important dates for the fall 2012 semester are:
Payment plans are available for students who prefer or need to spread their payments out over the course of the semester. Students with pending guaranteed financial aid are able to enter into a promissory note, allowing them to remain enrolled and able to access other services such as the SRC, housing and dining services.
Students who elect to enroll in a payment plan or enter into a promissory note will not be dropped for non-payment. Only students who have neither paid their account in full nor made any of the above arrangements will be dropped.

- September 7, 2012 fee payment deadline; late fees will be assessed after this date.
- September 14, 2012 drop for non-payment; this allows students a week after late fees are assessed to drop, swap, add, etc. and take care of account balances before any drops for non-payment will occur. (Please note that this extra week of refunds at 100% replaces the previous week of 50% refunds.) Students who are dropped for non-payment and wish to be reinstated will be required to pay a reinstatement fee.
