Economics professor Colleen Haight to discuss fair trade

Haight-Color Colleen Haight, an economics professor from California, will speak about fair trade on Friday, Oct. 30, in Schaible Auditorium. She will give presentations at 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. and take questions after each.

Haight's talk is titled "Fair Trade: Is It Really Fair? And for Whom?" It is sponsored by the student organization Students Who Enjoy Economic Thinking.

Haight is an associate professor in San Jose State University's Economics Department, where she teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate classes, including seminars and workshops in regulation and policy analysis. Her current research focuses on business regulation and the costs and benefits of such regulation for consumers and producers. More recently, she has turned her attention to the California state budget initiatives. She founded and runs the Economics Department’s Research Working Group for students and faculty, and co-directs the department’s Friday Afternoon Graduate Workshop.
