Elaine Drew wins Honors College teaching award
April 15, 2021
Elaine Drew has been named the winner of the UAF Honors College's 2021 Robert Piacenza
Outstanding Teaching Award.
"Dr. Drew is a tremendous advocate," wrote a student in a testimonial. "As an undergraduate,
it can sometimes be difficult to understand concepts, complete assignments, or decide
the direction of one's studies. Dr. Drew is a tremendous supporter of students and a passionate academic. Either in a course
or outside a course Dr. Drew provides students with resources from recent articles from the anthropological field
to academic activities to explore the world."
Drew is a medical anthropologist. Her research draws on collaborative and community-based
methods to support culturally based health promotion and intervention research with
American Indian, Alaska Native, Latino and African-American communities.
