Electric shuttle completes successful season
October 5, 2015
The electric shuttle, funded through the Student Sustainability Fund, completed its first summer of use. The shuttle is an electric-powered, plug-in vehicle equipped with its own roof-mounted solar charging panel. The 17-foot-long bus can carry 12 seated passengers, travel 25 miles per hour and is accessible to people with disabilities. The diesel-powered shuttles used on campus burn about $38 of fuel per day, while the electric shuttle can be charged for about $3.24 per day. The electric shuttle should pay for itself in 10 years.
