Employee survey to focus on safety culture
November 8, 2012
Organizations with successful safety cultures can expect fewer accidents and injuries, fewer regulatory citations, and fewer financial losses due to liability.
To better understand UAF’s current safety culture, we first must know what UAF employees think about safety. The best way to do that is to ask our employees about some of the day-to-day safety-related practices.
Within the month, all UAF employees — staff, faculty, and student employees — will be asked to complete an online survey administered by a neutral outside vendor on behalf of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management.
Each employee will receive an email with information on how to complete it. Survey respondents will not be identified. The vendor will provide data analysis and recommendations to UAF leadership. Our goal is to identify gaps in UAF’s current safety culture so we can address those gaps.
I expect everyone, whether you’re a longtime administrator or a new student assistant, to complete the questionnaire. Your input is necessary and valuable, because it will help shape our safety culture at UAF.
All employees filling out the survey will be eligible for incentive awards. The vendor will choose the recipients and will give the names to EHSRM for notification.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact EHSRM. I thank you in advance for taking your time to participate in this important initiative.
