Events to highlight National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Contains same info as announcementThe Nanook Diversity and Action Center is bringing National Eating Disorder Awareness Week to UAF.

Monday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m., Wood Center ballroom: Keynote speaker Latoya Shauntay Snell, "Running Fat Chef." Snell, a professional ultrarunner, activist and chef is coming to UAF to talk about the intersectionality of race, gender, body diversity and athletics.

Monday, Feb. 24, all day in various locations: Mirrorless Monday — Surprise! We will cover mirrors around campus with positive messages. On this day, we are celebrating who we are, beyond what we see in the mirror.

Wednesday, Feb. 26, 6 p.m., The Pub: "Embrace" film screening. "Embrace" is a social impact documentary that explores the serious issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies. Latoya Shauntay Snell will introduce the film with a Q&A session. You must be 21 or older to enter The Pub; bring ID.

Thursday, Feb. 27, 11:30 a.m., MBS lobby: Body Celebration Carnival. Celebrate every body. Stop by to learn more about health at every size, eating disorder awareness, body positivity and intuitive eating. Support resources will be available as well.

Thursday, Feb. 27, 1 p.m., Hess Rec Center: "Body Celebration Yoga." Wind down after the carnival with a yoga session provided by TRAX yoga instructor Kris Kroi. This event is free, and all abilities and bodies are welcome.
