Visitors are invited to join the museum for Family Day: Alaska Art on Saturday, Nov. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Participants will explore how science, culture and art connect, meet local artists, and get inspired to create original artwork. There is no admission fee for children 14 and under, thanks to support from TOTE Maritime. Museum members get free admission to all programs.

Early Explorers, for children 5 and under, meets each Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. Junior Curators, for kids 6 and up, meets Saturday, Nov. 5, from 2-4 p.m. A newer program, Teen Studio on Saturday, Nov. 12, offers an opportunity for young adults ages 13-18 to make an original artwork and discuss art in the museum's galleries. Registration is required.

This month's theme coincides with the final weeks of Living Alaska: A Decade of Collecting Contemporary Art for Alaska Museums. The exhibit was organized by the Anchorage Museum with major support provided by the Rasmuson Foundation. It is on display in the UA Museum of the North's Collections Gallery through Dec. 3.
