Extras needed for film shoot Sunday
September 9, 2011
Theatre UAF announces an open casting call for extras in The Messenger, a multimedia event written and directed by UAF Faculty member Kade Mendelowitz.
On Sunday, Sept. 11, Theatre UAF is shooting a large crowd scene in front of the Lacey
Street Theater. Community members of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and body types
are encouraged to come and be a part of this unique opportunity. No acting required,
and no lines are required. In the movie, this shot is of a news reporter doing a story
on a group of protestors who don’t like the upcoming guest on a talk show. There will
be signs provided for the “protestors” to hold.
Interested parties should check in at 12:30 p.m. at the staging area at The Elbow
Room located at 410 Second Ave. Extras should show up on set dressed in modest attire,
such as one might wear to a casual church meeting or to visit your grandmother. Clothing
for extras should include no Carharts, cargo pants or “work” attire, short skirts,
sleeveless tops or tight-fitting clothing. Choose clothing in neutral colors: blues,
greens, browns, grays and limited black; no white clothing can be in the scene. Avoid
reds, bright orange, hot pink, etc. Logos or images on shirts should be small or nondescript.
The scene takes place in Burbank, Calif., so short sleeves or lightweight long sleeves
are most appropriate. Please avoid heavy work boots and chunky, wintery shoes. Extras
are encouraged to bring an extra set of clothing (or at least an extra shirt) so our
Costume Designer can choose which wardrobe choice better suits the shoot. The shoot
will last until approximately 4 p.m.
