Faculty can review revised Blue Book

April 10, 2019

University Relations

UAF faculty are invited to review and provide feedback on the revised Blue Book draft.

The old Blue Book is outdated and has not been revised since 2006, and no longer aligns with current practices or the extant collective bargaining agreement. The revised Blue Book entitled “University Policy and Procedure: the Faculty Blue Book“ will replace the documents “Regulations for the Appointment and Evaluation of Faculty” and “Faculty Appointment and Evaluation Policies.” The Blue Book is a guide to best practices for tenure and promotion and supplements, but does not override anything in the current CBA.

Linked below is a Google Doc of the most recent version of the Blue Book draft:

Notes to consider:

  • The changes are not highlighted. This is because this revised version is vastly different from the current Blue Book.

  • Chapter IV, Workload Guidelines, still needs to be completed. This is why it is currently blank.

Please provide feedback (in the form of comments on the Google Doc) by Thursday, April 25. The UAF Faculty Senate plans to vote on the Blue Book at the May 6, 2019 Faculty Senate meeting.

To access the old Blue Book, you may review the following two documents:

Regulations for the Appointment and Evaluation of Faculty

Faculty Appointment and Evaluation Policies

The old Blue Book can also be found on the provost's website.
