Faculty Maya Salganek wins Arts & Leadership Award

Fairbanks Arts Association and the Mayors of Interior Alaska will be honoring the winners of the 2012 Interior Alaska Mayors’ Awards for the Arts at 6 p.m., Friday, March 23, at the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts Theater in Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way.
The awards ceremony will recognize outstanding contributions in the arts for the following categories:
- Arts & Leadership: UAF Assistant Professor E. Maya Salganek, Fairbanks
- Arts & Leadership: Fairbanks Watercolor Society & Tom and Nelda Nixon, Fairbanks
- Volunteer: Phyllis Pendergrast & Chuck Lemke, Fairbanks
- Arts Advocacy: Peggy Ferguson, Fairbanks
- Youth Arts: Bill Stevens, Fairbanks
- Lifetime Achievement: Ree Nancarrow, Denali Park
A punch and cupcake reception in the Bear Gallery will follow the ceremony. This event is free and open to the public.
