Financial aid adjustments available

University Relations

The 2020-2021 FAFSA (financial aid application) is based on your 2018 income, but UAF understands that your financial situation may have changed since you filed your 2018 taxes. We have a process to re-evaluate your family’s ability to pay for college due a reduction in wages, extraordinary medical or dental expenses, or other extenuating circumstances. We want to consider your individual circumstances and determine your current ability to fund your education.

This process may benefit:

  • undergraduate students with a completed 2020-2021 FAFSA

  • students with an expected family contribution (EFC) greater than $0

  • students with remaining Pell grant eligibility

If you would like to work with us through this process, please complete the Request for Review of Special Circumstances Form and submit it with a personal statement explaining your situation, along with the necessary documentation. If you have questions regarding the process, you can work with a financial aid advisor. An advisor can meet virtually to help you figure out how to pay for the upcoming semester.

All of us at UAF want to do everything possible to support your educational goals. If you have questions, please mail the Financial Aid Office at uaf-financialaid@alaska.edu.
