Fire at Full Force Though record heat is not expected for early July, wildland fire danger is still very high due to dry conditions. A total of 109 fires are active statewide, according to the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center. A total of 423 fires have burned 911,909 acres so far this year and 11 fires are currently staffed.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough issued a ban on fireworks, woodcutting closure and has suspended burn permits.  The borough also issued an evacuation watch for those living in the area from Mile 14 to Mile 30 of the Chena Hot Springs Rd. July 2.
