First Friday "Views of the Circumpolar North" April 6

The Alaska Satellite Facility will host a First Friday show April 6, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Geophysical Institute’s GeoData Center Map Office. The Map Office is located in the IARC Akasofu Building on the UAF campus West Ridge.

The show is called "Views of the Circumpolar North". Local artist and teacher Mary Maisch will display her quilt titled "The World is Simply a Very Big Ice-House: Stories of the Circumpolar North", and will read stories incorporated into the quilt.

Other featured artists will be local quilters Martha Wiedmaier and Nettie LaBelle-Hamer, and Aurora photographer Bud Kuenzli. Maps and aerial views of Alaska and the North available from the Map Office will also be displayed.
