First-Generation Student Success program expands

UAF's First-Generation Student Success program is expanding with the addition of Claire
Swanson as its new graduate assistant.
Swanson, a graduate student in the counseling program, will provide support to the
first-gen mentorship program and will be planning other workshops and events to promote
student success and build community for UAF's first-gen students, faculty and staff.
She is originally from Homer and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from UAF.
The position is the result of collaboration between the Graduate School, Center for
Student Engagement and Division of General Studies.
Swanson's office is located in the Center for Student Engagement suite in the Wood
