Follow-up forum on gun safety is Friday
October 3, 2018
Three UAF faculty members will participate in a panel discussion of gun safety from
5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Raven Landing.
The faculty participants are Valerie Gifford, assistant professor of clinical and
community psychology; Rob Duke, assistant professor of justice; and Alexander Hirsch, associate professor of political science. The faculty members served on a similar
panel in March.
Other panelists at the Oct. 5 event will include Karen Gaborik, superintendent of
Fairbanks schools, and Kaden Monzingo, a recent high school graduate. Journalist Robert
Hannon will moderate.
The event was organized by Fairbanks photographer Kate Wool. Wool is opening an exhibit
on a related theme that evening from 5-9 p.m. at Well Street Art Co. Her images represent
portraits of women, children and men wearing a target. For the exhibition, she worked
in partnership with the For Freedoms group's 50 State Initiative.
