A fall food preservation series begins Oct. 24 at the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center.

Mat-Su Cooperative Extension agent Julie Cascio will teach the classes from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays in Room 208 of Kerttula Hall.

The classes are:


  • Boiling Water Canner: Fruits/Tomatoes, Oct. 24

  • Canning Low Acid Food: Meats and Vegetables, Oct. 31

  • Pickles and Sauerkraut, Nov. 7

  • Canning Low Acid Food: Fish, Nov. 14

  • Dehydrating Fruits and Vegetables, Dec. 5

  • Jams and Jellies, Dec. 12
