Four UAF athletic director finalists to visit Fairbanks campus

Four finalists for the position of intercollegiate athletic director at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will visit campus April 26, 27, 28 and 30.

The four candidates — Brock Anundson, Steve Macy, Tim Mooney and Nick Bursik — will each spend a day on the Fairbanks campus for face-to-face meetings and interviews. They will each hold a virtual 30-minute public forum live on media.uaf.edu . The forums also can be heard by calling 1-866-832-7806 and using participant PIN 2964272.

Brock Anundson
Public forum: Monday, April 26, 4:30-5 p.m.

Brock Anundson currently serves as the assistant director of athletics for internal operations and events at Black Hills State University. He has worked for the United States Olympic Committee and the Denver Broncos, and with the University of Denver as the athletics and customer service manager. Anundson’s experience includes oversight of athletics operations, budget and recreation programs. He has a bachelor’s degree in sport and recreation management, an MBA with an emphasis in sports and entertainment management and marketing, and a doctorate in education.

Stephen Macy

Steve Macy
Public forum: Tuesday, April 27, 3:30-4 p.m.

Steve Macy most recently served as the senior associate athletic director for external relations at the University of Memphis. Prior to that he spent eight and a half years at New Mexico State University. Macy spent the majority of his professional career fulfilling various roles in the Western Athletic Conference. His experience includes branding, marketing, corporate sales, game management and licensing. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in sport management.

Public forum: Wednesday, April 28, 4:30-5 p.m.

Tim Mooney currently serves as senior associate athletic director at the University of Idaho. Prior to that, he served as head baseball coach and then associate director of athletic development at Washington State University. Mooney’s career spans two decades and includes coaching, administration, fundraising and event management, including the NCAA men’s basketball championship preliminary rounds and women’s NCAA regional championships. He holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in education with an emphasis in exercise science.

Nick Bursik

Nick Bursik
Public forum: Friday, April 30, 4:30-5 p.m.

Nick Bursik currently serves as director of athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He also serves as chair of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Athletic Director Council and on the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Committee. Prior to assuming his role as athletic director, Bursik was the university's head baseball and head softball coach. His experience includes developing athletic partnerships, fundraising and leading capital projects for athletic facilities. Bursik holds an MBA and bachelor's degree in business administration.
