Frozen Lenses call for entry: 'Stupid Cupid'
January 22, 2019
Frozen Lenses presents "Stupid Cupid," a multimedia, interdisciplinary, love-inspired exhibition. Members of the public are invited to submit artwork to be considered for the show. Anyone can submit and all media are welcome. Entries are $3 per artwork, with a discount of three submissions for $8.
Art intake is Saturday, Jan. 26, from noon-2 p.m. in the UAF Art Gallery. The submission form must be completed before the art intake, and the entry fee must be paid in cash upon submission.
Human beings are capable of incredible things, from poignant movements in art to interstellar exploration. But for all our intellectual prowess, there’s still one thing that continues to elude most of us: the complete inability to function like a normal human being when confronted with the world’s most treasured — and cutthroat emotion — love. This nonjuried call is open to all interpretations of the idea of love: the sweet, the silly, the cringe-worthy and the triumphant. We also encourage you to explore other sides of love, including nostalgia, loss, attachment and loneliness.
We want to see how you interpret the theme of love in unique and original works — maybe it's mother's love or your love for tacos! You do not have to create new work but it cannot be work that has been exhibited in previous Frozen Lenses shows.
You'll find the submission form at https://goo.gl/forms/hdMiIxkFVhUSaN5u2.
Participation has increased in recent years and wall space is in high demand. While not every piece may be exhibited, every submitting artist will be represented, and a wide variety of skill level, media and experience will be displayed.
