Riley, a horticulture agent for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, said five classes will cover everything gardeners need to know to grow and harvest their own food. The series is called Grow Your Own Food: Vegetable Gardening for the Uninitiated. Topics will include garden planning, seed starting, soil preparation, organic soil amendments and fertilizers, and growing warm and cool season crops.

Classes will meet from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, through May 15, in Room 108 of the University Park Building at 1000 University Ave.

The cost is $20 for all classes and materials. Registration is available at http://bit.ly/2JZBn6J. For more information, contact Julie Riley at 907-474-2423 or Ronda Boswell at 907-474-1530.
