Kyle Alvarado, a UAF graduate student in mechanical engineering, will be conducting research for a project funded by National Aeronautics Space Administration.

The research project involves estimating the cost of feeding people in space and in the wake of a global catastrophe. It will also estimate how many people could be fed over time in the event of a catastrophe.

Alvarado is advised by David Denkenberger, who holds a joint appointment with the Alaska Center for Energy and Power and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. For more information on the research, contact Denkenberger at david.denkenberger@gmail.com.
