Gray to serve as interim vice chancellor

Chancellor Dana Thomas has named UAF athletics director Gary Gray to serve as interim
vice chancellor for student services. Gray will start his new position Nov. 14. Mike
Sfraga, who is retiring from UAF in December to take a position at the Wilson Center
in Washington D.C. as director of the center’s polar initiative, will work for the
next month closing out his UAF Arctic initiatives and will be available for consultation,
as needed.
Gray will oversee UAF’s student services units, as well as continue his role as the
UAF athletics director. The Dean of Students office will report to Vice Provost Alex
Fitts. The UAF development and alumni offices, KUAC and University Relations will
report directly to Thomas, in the interim.
The university plans to conduct a national search for a permanent replacement.
