UAF, electric co-op to host energy symposium

The University of Alaska Fairbanks and Golden Valley Electric Association will host
an Interior Energy Symposium on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 6-8 p.m. in the Murie Building
auditorium on the Fairbanks campus.
The public forum will include presentations by proponents of various plans to reduce
the cost of electricity, space heating or both. Confirmed presenters include Cook
Inlet Energy, Hilcorp, WesPac Midstream, Spectrum LNG and Petro Star Inc.
Each presenter will be asked to address the following questions:
- How is your proposed project beneficial to Interior Alaska in both the short term and long term in bringing down the cost of space heating?
- How is your project beneficial to GVEA in reducing the cost of electricity?
- What is your project timeline and what are the major milestones required for your projects' success?
UAF Chancellor Brian Rogers will moderate the forum, which will include questions from the public. The symposium will also be recorded and streamed live at https://goo.gl/BcYWQ0.
