Happy holidays
December 19, 2011
Most UAF offices will be closed for the winter holiday from Dec. 26 – Jan. 4. Many offices will also be closed Dec. 19 –23 and Jan. 2 – 6 as a cost-saving measure. Consider calling ahead to see if an office is open during this time. A schedule of closures for campus during the winter break is available at www.uaf.edu/marketing/holiday/.
Over the winter break, all vehicles left on campus must park in the Nenana lot to allow for easy access for snow and ice removal. Vehicles parked in other lots may be towed away at the owner's expense. Vehicles must have a current UAF parking decal. Outlets are available and UAF police will be monitoring the area. A flier about parking during the winter break is available online at www.uaf.edu/files/fs/Winter_Break.pdf (PDF). For more information, call 474-PARK (474-7275).
Please remember to power down over the break to help save energy.
- After turning off your work space lighting, remember to turn off lights in other empty spaces, too: restrooms, copy/printer rooms, closets, etc.
- Turn off computers, monitors, printers and office equipment.
- Turn off power strips, or unplug unneeded computers and appliances.
- Turn off overhead and task lighting.
- Keep your windows in your offices and rooms closed and do not turn down thermostats. The temperature of buildings must be maintained to prevent frozen pipes. Please contact Facilities Services at 474-7000 for facilities issues
The UAF police and fire departments will remain open and the UAF Bookstore, the Student Recreation Center, the Wood Center, the UA Museum of the North and the Rasmuson Library will have limited hours during some parts of the winter break.
