Ties to Fairbanks
Parayko, a former Alaska Hockey captain, won the 2019 Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues after defeating the Boston Bruins in game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals last month. Parayko was a defenseman for the Nanooks from 2012-2015, earning several All-America and All-Conference honors, while also earning accolades for his work in the classroom. Despite leaving after only three seasons with the Nanooks, Parayko continued his education in his first season of the National Hockey League, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in the spring of 2016.
Parayko will be in town next week for the second annual Parayko Hockey Camp, which will be held at the Patty Ice Arena Tuesday, July 16, through Friday, July 19. Click here for a link to register for the camp.
Born and raised in North Pole, Copley returns home for the summer following a successful season with the Washington Capitals. The goaltender won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018. Copley played the majority of his hockey career here in Fairbanks before appearing for Michigan Tech University from 2012-2014.
