Fairbanks, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks suffered their first sweep of the season as the No. 4 Miami RedHawks shut them out 4-0 on Saturday night at the Carlson Center.

Alaska fell to 6-7-3 on the season and 4-6-2-0 in CCHA play, slipping into sixth place in the league standings. Miami retained its hold on first place at 9-2-3 overall and 6-2-2-2 in conference contests.

After a scoreless first period, the RedHawks got what would prove the game-winning goal at 2:26 of the middle frame off the stick of Alex Wideman. Austin Czarnik and Riley Barber helped set up the power-play tally that made it 1-0 for the visitors.

Miami added three third-period goals, getting two from Marc Hagel at 8:24 and 19:13, respectively. Jimmy Mullin scored the third goal at 11:20 for his second point of the night as he assisted on Hagel's first strike of the final frame.

Alaska goalie John Keeney (Business Administration) turned aside 23 shots in the loss, while his counterpart Ryan McKay made 26 stops en route to Perani Cup First Star honors.

The Nanooks close out the first half of their 2012-13 season schedule next weekend, when they host the Bowling Green Falcons Dec. 7-8 at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
