FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks men's hockey team is set to host the program's inaugural Fan Fest next Saturday, September 29 from 4-7 p.m. at the Patty Center Lobby and Gymnasium.

The admission-free event is open to Alaska hockey fans of all ages and will provide an opportunity to meet the 2012-13 Alaska Hockey team in addition to fun, food and prizes for those who attend.

Radio disc jockey VMAXX will be playing tunes throughout Fan Fest and fans will get the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities by a variety of event booths provided by Fairbanks area businesses and sponsors. The Women's Hockey team will be on hand to help out along with the Alaska Nanook Cheerleaders who will be performing during the event.

For the younger Nanook fans, the event will feature a Kids Corner with several hockey activities, free cotton candy and popcorn and a bounce house. The featured activities include Box Hockey and the Goalie Experience.

Fans are encouraged to bring their hockey skates to test their abilities on AK Performance's synthetic ice sheet during Fan Fest and for the Skate With The Nanooks that will follow the annual Blue and Gold exhibition game at the Patty Ice Arena at 7 p.m.

After the Skate With The Nanooks, the Face-Off Club will host a post-game barbeque with free hot dogs, chips, drinks and dessert.

Season ticket packages will be available for pick up from 3-6 p.m. at the Athletics Ticket Office in the Patty Center's main lobby during the event as well as from 6-8 p.m. during the Blue and Gold game.

The Face-Off Club will be conducting a cash raffle, with the drawing to take place at 6pm.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Office of Risk Management is sponsoring a Safety Block Party that coincides with Fan Fest and is from 5-8 p.m. in the Patty Center Parking lot. The Block Party is free for Fan Fest patrons to attend.
