Humanitarian OpenStreetMap mapathon today, Thursday

September 27, 2017

University Relations

Help emergency responders deal with natural disasters, including those in Puerto Rico and Mexico, by participating in a mapathon today and Thursday, Sept. 28, from noon-5 p.m. in the Decision Theater North, 010 West Ridge Research Building. The event is sponsored by the Alaska EPSCoR and UAF GINA.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop and be able to commit to at least an hour of mapping areas that have been devastated by recent cataclysmic natural events.

No experience is necessary. This is a great way for people to learn how to use geospatial tools and understand how they are used in a real-world environment. Staff will be available to provide support.
