Teaching Tips Live! offers ideas for instruction
February 4, 2014
Learn about the importance of achieving flow state, principles that form the foundation of every personal productivity system and the tomato that's inspired productivity around the globe — all at the upcoming Teaching Tips Live! event.
Teaching Tips Live! is a series of presentations to and discussions with UAF faculty about new technology and instructional methods that can be used in online and face-to-face classrooms.
Teaching Tips Live! will be available via Google+ Hangouts on Air. Find everything you need to know about the events at UAF eLearning's iTeachU site.
Mark your calendar with the following dates:
- Feb. 11, 1 p.m., "On Flow States, Tomatoes and Personal Productivity," by Chris Lott. In addition to the productivity tips, there's this bonus: Your instructor will teach you to pronounce Mkihail Csíkszentmihályi's name and how to turn an earworm from a pest to a force for good.
- March 25, "The Oxford Tutorial Method in the Digital Age," by Owen Guthrie.
- April 8, "Student Video Presentations," by Chris Malmberg.
- April 22, "Using Google to Streamline Your Classroom," by Madara Mason.
Meanwhile, learn how to record a video on the fly in this week's Teaching Tip by UAF eLearning Instructional Designer Dan LaSota. A webcam and YouTube allow faculty to improve teacher presence and effectively respond to class discussion, topical events or student performance.
