Scientists from around the world will discuss glacier and ice sheet melt and the subsequent reaction of the Earth's crust during the Glacier Isostatic Adjustment Modeling 2015 meeting at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, May 26-29.

The Earth deforms as water moves and shifts weight around the planet. The melting of gigantic prehistoric ice sheets causes motions visible today, in addition to prominent changes in shorelines. Even the seasonal redistribution of water and snow can be measured.

During the meeting, scientists will discuss techniques for analyzing the phenomena and their latest findings. Sponsors include the UAF Geophysical Institute, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, the University of Tasmania, Australia and the Technical University of Denmark.
