Jessica Rhoads has joined the staff of the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities as the interim executive director. Rhoads has taken a leave of absence from her position as a mental health counselor at the Student Health and Counseling Center.

CSRR is also led by Kaydee Van Flein, the center's associate director and its chief student conduct officer. Van Flein has been a UAF employee for more than six years. Corbin Sandgren, an intake specialist and student conduct administrator, has worked in  professional and student roles for the past five years. Other members of the staff include the Student Care Team's graduate intern Nicole Crenshaw and undergraduate justice intern Camden Pommenville.

The Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities, formerly known as the Dean of Students Office, was restructured to support student-centered programs and services that help students achieve their personal, academic and life goals. The CSRR aims to create a campus environment of safety, inclusivity, diversity and care that facilitates holistic student learning and development. The center is part of the Division of Student Affairs.

CSRR works to enhance campus wellness, increase suicide prevention and proactivity, provide support in and out of the classroom, and prioritize student safety through a comprehensive student conduct framework. The CSRR will facilitate programs of support and education that strive to increase life satisfaction, expand social support, enhance social skills, assist students’ ethical development, and improve classroom engagement, with initiatives such as the Resilience Institute and the Student Care Team.

The Resilience Institute will focus on increasing well-being and improving mental health awareness and the overall student experience at UAF.

The Student Care Team is composed of professionals from various departments who contribute their knowledge for student success and wellness.
