Kowalski to serve as CITO for the UA System

Karl Kowalski, executive director of User Services for the Office of Information Technology, will assume the responsibilities and authority of the Chief Information Technology Officer for the UA System until further notice. He replaces Steve Smith,  current CITO, who is  leaving UA for job at the University of Hawaii. Steve Smith's last day in the office is May 20.

Prior to coming to UA in 2007, Karl served for 20 years in public education and technology integration in rural Alaska schools. Karl first came to UAF as a student in 1981, earning undergraduate degrees in Education and Biology. He later earned a master’s degree in educational technology leadership from George Washington University.
