UAF's student-run radio station KSUA 91.5 FM will broadcast Alaska Nanooks hockey games for the 2018-19 season.

Under an agreement with the UAF Athletics Department, KSUA will broadcast and livestream all home and away games.

Bruce Cech, who enters his 31st season as the voice of the Nanooks, will return as the play-by-play commentator for Alaska. Cech will travel with the team this season, providing on-air talent for the radio broadcast and KSUA’s internet livestream. When the Nanooks are at home, Cech will provide commentary for the FloHockey.tv webstream, in addition to the radio and livestream.

KSUA previously broadcast the Alaska Nanooks hockey games. Since the 2011-2012 season, radio coverage has been provided on frequencies now owned by Last Frontier Mediactive. The company has decided to discontinue the hockey broadcast.

“We’d like to thank Tara Chrisman and her entire staff at KSUA for their hard work on taking over the radio broadcast for the upcoming hockey season,” said Nona Letuligasenoa, UAF's assistant athletic director for communications. “We know that they, along with Bruce, will do a fantastic job providing a quality product that will highlight our hockey program to the best of their ability. We look forward to all the positive impact this partnership will create with our fans, alumni, boosters and our campus community.”

The Alaska Nanooks hockey team will host its annual Blue vs. Gold game on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Patty Center ice arena at 7 p.m. Following Blue vs. Gold, the Nooks will take on the Simon Fraser Clan in exhibition action on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Carlson Center at 7:07 p.m.
