Wanda Irwin, corporate support manager at KUAC TV/FM in Fairbanks, was honored as the fundraising professional of the year Nov. 18 at the Association of Fundraising Professionals Alaska Chapter Philanthropy Day in Anchorage.

Irwin’s fundraising career began as a college student employee at Eastern Michigan University. After graduation, she worked in annual giving at the University of Michigan and then managed donor recognition for the university’s top donors.

In 2001, Wanda moved to Alaska, where she gained experience with the University of Alaska Labor Relations and Human Resources Department. She was thrilled to return to fundraising at KUAC in 2007. Irwin is a certified fundraising executive, having completed the CFRE International accreditation.

As part of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Alaska chapter board, Irwin served as Alaska Interior representative from 2009 until 2014 and as board president in 2015. She has volunteered as an ambassador for the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce since 2007 and was co-chair of the ambassador and membership committee. She also served as board treasurer of the Fairbanks Senior Center.
