April 29, 2016

UA President Jim Johnsen will host a leadership training program this fall for employees across the university.

Supervisors have been asked to nominate employees for the Leading in the 21st Century Training Series by Tuesday, May 3, 2016; employees should also be encouraged to apply. Employees who apply directly will need the support of their direct supervisors.

Nearly two-dozen employees will be selected from UAF. Participants must commit to nine full days — three consecutive days for each module. The links for nomination forms are included below.

President Johnsen wants to accomplish the following goals:

  • Share a language of management and leadership to encourage communication and relationships across the UA system.

  • Build a network of peers who will not only teach this language but also work on other initiatives.

The training will take place in Fairbanks from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. each day. Participants must attend all sessions. Homework will be required. The dates are:

Group one

  • Aug. 10-12

  • Sept. 21-23

  • Oct. 19-21

Group two

  • Aug. 17-19

  • Sept. 28-30

  • Nov. 2-4
