Lecture on stereotype threat in STEM fields

Amanda Sesko, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Washington
Tacoma, will deliver a talk entitled "Stereotyping and stereotype threat effects on
STEM performance and evaluation." The lecture will cover ways that negative stereotypes
can impact performance on the job and in the classroom, with a special focus on methods
to reduce the impacts of stereotype threat on students in STEM fields.
The talk will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Murie Building
