Lisa Laiti has been hired as the Alaska Nanooks community engagement coordinator. Laiti’s first official day with the Nanooks was Aug. 22.

“We in Nanook athletics are very fortunate to have someone of Ms. Laiti’s caliber to lead our marketing efforts in the Fairbanks area and in the surrounding communities,” Vice Chancellor Keith Champagne said.

A hometown product of Fairbanks, Laiti will oversee all Alaska Nanooks community engagement opportunities and will be the department lead in all marketing and promotional efforts, as well as game management.

Additionally, Laiti will work closely with the sports information and ticketing offices to increase the visibility of the Alaska Nanooks brand, drive ticket sales and help facilitate corporate sponsorship obligations.

Prior to joining the Nanooks, Laiti worked as the marketing and publicity director intern for HerCampus, a magazine that covers colleges around the U.S. Laiti helped create and execute a marketing plan to start a HerCampus Alaska chapter that covers each of the campuses within the University of Alaska system.

Laiti has also served as a marketing and social media creator and developer for local businesses, and served as the office manager and activity coordinator for Alcan Sports Camps.

Last May, Laiti graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from UAF, where she had experience planning community events, creating advertisements and developing marketing plans for local businesses. She was the first recipient of the UAF Milner Marketing Scholarship in 2019.

Laiti also earned an associate degree from Bemidji State University, where she was a two-year member of their NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey team.
