flyer contains same basic info as announcementCollaborative workspaces foster innovative thinking where interdisciplinary teams interact, learn from each other and spark new ideas. There has been a growth in makerspaces across the U.S. in schools, universities, community centers, and Department of Defense facilities.

A makerspace can be an art studio. A makerspace can be an engineering lab. It is both a set of equipment in a location and the processes and procedures that exist for community members to engage with that equipment. It’s a collaborative workspace for making, learning, exploring and sharing.

A makerspace ideation forum for those who manage, operate and use makerspaces will be held in in February. The event will be hosted by UAF's Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and Alaska Center ICE. Organizers want to hear about the current capabilities available across the campus and the needs and challenges as we build out a makerspace community.

Please fill out this Google form by 11:59 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18. We will then contact all those wanting to attend with the date and time along with a Zoom link. There will be the opportunity for a one-slide presentation on each makerspace along with breakout sessions for attendees to discuss the needs and challenges to sustain and grow the current makerspace capabilities.

If there any questions on the forum, please contact Peter Webley at pwwebley@alaska.edu.
