Making science understandable: JRN F456
January 11, 2012
If your skills in translating complicated scientific subjects for a non-scientist
audience could use some upgrading, consider registering for JRN F456—Science Writing
for Magazines and Newspapers. Goals of the class include learning how to differentiate
between a “story” and a “topic,” translate scientific and medical jargon into terms
understandable by the lay reader, and write clear, interesting articles that both
educate and entertain the general public. Instructor: Lynne Lott. The class meets
TTh 9:45 –11:15 a.m. in 126 Bunnell.
