May 1: May iTeach application
April 26, 2012
The Center for Distance Education is currently offering a $500 stipend plus all travel expenses paid to faculty attending
our May iTeach, from May 21 – 25. The deadline to apply is May 1, and you can find
more information and apply at http://iteach.community.uaf.edu.
WHAT IS iTEACH?
iTeach is a week-long hands-on clinic offered by the Instructional Design Team at
UAF's Center for Distance Education. This intensive clinic is tailored to help improve
upon everything from how to gather and manage research, to creating course schedules
that work for you and your students, to building and managing online learning communities,
and everything in between.
This clinic is led by a team of instructional designers who know how difficult is
to teach in today's post-secondary institutions. If you've been asked to add an online
component to your courses, if you want to teach online, or if you just want to integrate more
technology into your classroom, they can help. The Instructional Design Team members
all have experience teaching traditional face-to-face and online courses at UAF. They
come from diverse
backgrounds, and each one has technical expertise. The skills taught by the team during
iTeach will aid in creating pedagogically sound face-to-face or online courses that
are fun, possess academic integrity and meet UAF's academic guidelines.
*Please note that because OIT offers courses in using Blackboard, iTeach covers Blackboard
in a very limited fashion.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Nothing. CDE provides travel costs, a $500 stipend and meals.
WHERE AND WHEN IS iTEACH BEING HELD?
This iTeach will be held during the week of May 21 – 25 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. every
day. All sessions are held at the UAF Center for Distance Education offices located
in Fairbanks at 2175 University Ave. S. in the lower-level conference room.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All CRCD, CDE and CTC faculty (including adjuncts) are welcome to apply. However,
please note that, due to limited space, the application process is competitive.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Simply fill out the online application form by May 1. Selected participants will be notified by May 4.
