Head coach Mick Durham announced the completion of his 2013-14 recruiting class as Joe Slocum (Vallejo, Calif./City College of San Francisco) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Nanooks next season.

1352227102424Slocum, a 6-3 guard, will have two years of eligibility remaining following a pair of seasons playing for the City College of San Francisco out of the California Community College Athletic Association. As a sophomore, he appeared in 29 games for a Rams team that went 31-1 and advanced to the semifinals of the CCCAA State Championship.

At the point guard position, he led the team with a 2.8 assist/turnover ratio. He also contributed on the boards with 2.0 rebounds per game and nearly 1.0 steal per game. He helped the Rams to wins by an average of almost 25.0 points per game and only five teams were within 15 points all year.

“Joe is a tremendous leader and understands winning as his team posted a 31-1 record this past season,” Durham said. “Joe will add good depth to our guard spots along with unselfishness and toughness.”

“He has really high basketball IQ, is a good defender and a big guard,” CCSF head coach Justin Labagh said. “He's kind of our Mr. Fix It and is our sixth man and was a key player. He's a tough kid and a winner. I only lost four games with him in two years, so he knows what it takes to be a part of a team. He was a game changer for us.”

Slocum rounds out the incoming class of four which also consists of 6-1 guards Rashaad Allen (Fairfield, Calif./College of Marin) and Damon Cikanek (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond) and 6-7 forward John Renfro (Fairbanks, Alaska/Southern Utah).
