The next reading in the Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series will feature Johnny Payne. dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and James Engelhardt, UA Press acquisitions editor. The reading will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, in the Wood Center Ballroom, and is free and open to the public.

Every year, the Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series brings a number of writers of national significance to Alaska. Through readings, lectures, and individual meetings with local aspiring authors, poets and playwrights, these gifted and unique writers engage in a crucial artistic and cultural exchange.

The Visiting Writers Series is supported by the University of Alaska Foundation, a grant from the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, UAF College of Liberal Arts, and UA President's Special Projects Fund.
