Museum event to celebrate birds, Kessel's legacy
May 9, 2018
The University of Alaska Museum of the North is hosting a Celebration of Birds on Thursday, May 17, from 4-6 p.m. The free public event will celebrate the museum’s collections.
Visitors can learn about the legacy of Brina Kessel, who bequeathed more than $7 million to the museum’s ornithology collection. Kessel was the curator of the bird collection as well as a longtime professor, dean and researcher at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
There will be birds and other specimens on display. Visitors can meet curators and explore the museum’s exhibits and galleries.
