The University of Alaska Museum of the North will launch a new series of free public presentations this month.

The Museum Discovery Series will feature a different curator each month unveiling new discoveries based on research in the museum’s collections. The presentations will be held in the museum auditorium on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s series includes the following presentations:

  • Jan. 22, “Unveiling Alaska Dinosaurs: Discoveries and Insights into Ancient Life in the Arctic,” by Pat Druckenmiller.

  • Feb. 5, “Alaska’s Marmots: Known Knowns and Unknown Knowns,” by Link Olson.

  • March 12, “Alaska’s Butterflies, Beetles and Bees: Documenting the Biodiversity of the North,” by Derek Sikes.

  • April 23, “Climate Change and Human Land Use in Ice Age Alaska,” by Ben Potter and Josh Reuther.
