The University of Alaska Fairbanks will kick off its popular, family-friendly summer music series with a May 27 concert at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

The 2021 Music in the Garden series, which is organized by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning, will begin with an evening of acoustic Americana music from Jameson Effect. The 12 weekly concerts will be at 7 p.m. Thursdays throughout the summer until Aug. 12.

Concerts are free, but donations to support the garden are welcome. Those attending the concerts are required to wear masks if they are unvaccinated and within 6 feet of others.

Because space is limited at the garden, parking is encouraged at UAF’s West Ridge, where there is a short walking path to the garden, or in the Nenana lot across from the Patty Center.  Free shuttle service will be available from the Nenana lot starting at 6 p.m.

This summer’s Music in the Garden schedule includes:
