Nanook Recreation is offering a new group fitness class for teens ages 15-17 interested in learning how to strength training safely. The progressive six-week class teaches the basic concepts and safety considerations when resistance training. The class will go over proper technique for free weights (dumbbell and barbell exercises) and functional strength exercises.

The exercise selection will be chosen based on each participant’s ability level. There will be a significant emphasis on safety and good training habits. Each participant will receive an individualized written program that takes in account their ability level and goals. All sessions will be instructed by a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and the class is limited to eight participants to ensure quality coaching on technique.

Classes occur Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The program starts Tuesday, March 3, and ends Thursday, April 9.
