Nicole Goff has joined Career Services as an advisor. She taught elementary school in Arizona for four years and spent the past year as a first-grade teacher in Fairbanks. Goff holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2016 from Arizona State University, where she spent two and a half years as a career peer advisor.

In that role, she helped support a diverse population of students with resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, networking, and career exploration. She oversaw 15 other peer advisors and helped manage the peer advisor program for students at the university within the Career Services Department. Working closely with a variety of employers, she also helped plan and run career fairs, interview panels and networking events at the university.

“I have thoroughly loved my time as an elementary school teacher over the last five years, but I am beyond excited to make this shift in my career back into the Career Services field,” Goff stated. “When I was a student at ASU and had the opportunity to work for a Career Services Center, I absolutely loved helping students navigate the career world and working with employers. I have a deep passion for supporting others and helping them figure out their ‘why.’ Supporting students in their career goals is my number one priority in this position.”

At UAF, Goff will help students in career and major exploration, career coaching, resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing skills, and will work on campuswide job fairs and industry-specific outreach. She will continue to build relationships with local employers and help facilitate career and internship opportunities for UAF students.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time and exploring Alaska with her husband, Jayden, and their three dogs, Bjorn, Freyja and Odin. She can be reached at nrgoff@alaska.edu.
