New executive chef joins Chartwells

Chartwells welcomes its new executive chef, Tyler Newell. Newell, a Seattle native, moved to Alaska in April with his fiancé, Jessica. He has been cooking professionally for 23 years, and enjoys creating diverse cuisine in the kitchen. He also likes to spend time outdoors dirt biking, snow biking and mountain biking.
Newell takes a keen interest in sustainability, and works to find local sources of food to include in his menu and service options to promote sustainable efforts on campus.
