No smoking near building entrances

Cornerstone

In an effort to maintain the best indoor air quality possible, Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management asks that smokers observe the posted signs asking them to stay at least 50 feet away from building entrances and air intakes. This allows non-smokers to get into buildings without having to inhale secondhand cigarette smoke, and helps to ensure that smoke doesn’t enter the buildings via windows, cracks and air intake systems. EHS&RM has had many complaints regarding cigarette smoke and reminds the campus of some common areas to avoid while smoking:

  • South facing entrance to the Rasmuson Library

  • ADA ramp area in front of the Great Hall

  • Triangular pillars to the east of Gruening

  • Gruening overhang

  • Duckering entrances, including side doors

Thank you for your consideration.
