Oral historian Sherna Gluck to give talk
March 8, 2018
Oral historian Sherna Gluck, a pioneer in oral history and feminist studies, will
give a talk Wednesday, March 14, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the second level of the Rasmuson
Library.
In her early work, Gluck recorded American suffragists, preserving their description
of the movement for equality. Her documentation of women airplane factory workers
during WWII led to her book "Rosie the Riveter Revisited." She is known for her work
on feminist scholarship, which includes interviews with and publications on the lives
of Palestinian women. Under her direction, the Oral History Program at California
State University, Long Beach was one of the first to offer recordings and supporting
documentation online. She is a leader in the Oral History Association and was a major
contributor to the association’s Principles and Best Practices for Oral History.
