Pesticide applicators may work toward renewing their certification during a March 30-31 online workshop.

The Alaska Certified Pesticide Applicators Workshop will take place by Zoom from 8 a.m. to noon March 30-31. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service hosts the annual training.

Participants may attend either or both days and receive four or eight continuing education units from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Speakers from Extension, DEC and businesses will cover different subjects each day. On March 30, topics will include understanding borates, pollinator protection, wood-destroying organisms, orange hawkweed management and bedbug control. The following day, the topics are spruce beetle trials, best practices for herbicide applicators, rodent integrated pest management, bird vetch management and pesticide program updates.

The fee is $30 for each day. Registration and more details are available at http://bit.ly/PSEPtraining. For more information, contact Phil Kaspari at pnkaspari@alaska.edu or 907-895-4215. Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made five business days in advance to Kaspari.
